Quite a lot of people on site today. 11 students plus 4 secondary school
students together with 3 volunteers, 2 supervisors and the PR (Public Relations)
person (me).
Thursday 3rd July (Let's spend the day digging out a large concrete
block)
Marion and Buster attack the concrete floor sill which used to hold
up the dancefloor.
Ray tries to loosen-up the surface a little.
Ray shows Duncan how to do it.
The alignment of these ditch features is surely coincidence?
Team work gets the concrete block to move a fraction.
Lets hope it doesn't fall into the deep trench in the foreground!
Marion, Mark and Duncan get ready for the lift.
The boys pull it up by hand, and it has an iron pole right through
it.
Friday 4th July
The girls get to work mattocking.
Modern rubble has been used to fill the ditch through which the "gas"
pipe was routed.

Does the ditch continue through to the section in the foreground? I
think it may.... Does the negative picture show it even better?
Buster starts to excavate the other half of the pit which is above
where the remains of a wooden chest were found last year.
On to Week Five....
