A piece of bone "in situ". Possibly part of a cow's leg.

Buster and the girls trowelling through the medieval plough soil.

Can you see the ditch?

A view across the ditch (top end) and visible in the main trench is a pile of stones which have been placed over the top of a burial. This burial should continue into the area currently being trowelled.

Most of the plough soil has been removed. This is the sub-soil, and it seems to contain several little hollows full of stones....

By the top fence, where the visitors gather, is the clay-lined ditch found last year. It is under the geotex but the pols of water give it away.

Afternoon break.

Sara and Rachel have trowelled down into some fine green gravel.

On to Week Eight...
