| DIG DIARY 2003 - Week Eight
Wednesday 30th July
Alex has just discovered a piece of medieval pottery in the bottom
of the ditch!
A vertical shot of a grave-cut. The pile of large stones at the very
top of the picture is where the skull is. In the middle of the photo you
can see the actual cut in the ground re the bottom half of the body.
The ditch almost fully excavated.
Ray's ditch, or at least the stones that fill it!
The southern side of Jenny's ditch.
The northern side of Jenny's ditch.
The grave-cut again. The head is under a protective box which is under
the stones. The feet are off to the right (we assume) in what at this angle
looks like a circular pit.
Thursday 31st July
The rather splendid "Monk's Bridge" or "Crossag".
Ray's ditch again. This time you can see the vertical section. There's
probably a bit more to dig out.
Friday 1st August
Jenny's ditch.
Buster's ditch
Jenny's ditch again...
The new "geology" trench
On to Week Nine (last 2 days of the
dig)....
